Ratan Tata’s passing has created a void at the top of Tata Trusts, which owns 66 percent of Tata Sons, the holding company for the conglomerate that is in charge of its biggest listing companies. In addition to not being married, the late chairman of Tata Trusts failed to name a successor prior to his passing. The board of trustees will now choose the organization’s future leader during its upcoming meeting, which is expected to take place today.
The Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Allied Trusts, as well as the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Allied Trusts, are included in the Tata Trusts. These Trusts are essential to Ratan Tata’s legacy of significant generosity because of their emphasis on healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation.
The most likely candidate to succeed Ratan Tata as chairman of the Tata Trusts is Noel Tata. This is all the information you require about him.
Mehli Mistry may be appointed as a permanent trustee to the Tata Trusts board, according to sources.
Who is Noel Tata?
Noel Tata, 67, is Ratan Tata’s half-brother and has a long history with the Tata group, which includes Tata Trusts. He is Naval Tata’s son from a previous marriage. He already serves as a trustee on the boards of the Sir Ratan Tata and Sir Dorabji Tata Trusts.
At the moment, Noel serves as vice-chairman of Tata Steel and watchmaker Titan. In addition, he serves as chairman of the Tata group’s NBFC Tata Investment Corp. and retail business Trent, which owns Zudio and Westside. Noel is a member of the Voltas board as well.
In addition, he oversees Tata International, where he started his career, as managing director. The rumors that Noel was being groomed to take over as head of the Tata group from Ratan Tata began after this appointment in 2010–2011.
The Tata Group’s overseas division for goods and services is called Tata International.
Noel Tata is a graduate of Sussex University in the United Kingdom and has successfully attended INSEAD’s International Executive Programme (IEP) in France.
Noel had previously been employed at Nestle UK.
Noel, an Irish national, is wed to Aloo Mistry, the daughter of Pallonji Mistry, the former Tata Sons’ largest shareholder. Leah, Maya, and Neville are their three children.
According to the Tata Trusts website, some of the family-affiliated nonprofits have his children on as trustees.
Unlike Ratan Tata, who was more of a public personality, Noel Tata is recognized for his low-profit leadership style and avoids the media.
