While Riley Strain’s family has questioned the circumstances surrounding his death, a new medical examiner’s report has revealed some shocking details.
While the family of University of Missouri senior Riley Strain has raised concerns about his death, which authorities have deemed “accidental,” a recently released medical examiner’s report has revealed some shocking details. Strain, 22, was reported missing on March 8 after being kicked out of Luke’s 32 Bridge near Nashville.
Strain was in Music City for a fraternity conference with his Delta Chi brothers when he went missing. His body was later discovered in the Cumberland River in West Nashville.
According to the new report, Strain was extremely drunk when he went missing. He had THC in his system when he drowned. On March 8, he had a blood alcohol level of 0.228. Delta 9, a compound commonly found in THC, was also present in his system. His cause of death was given as “drowning and ethanol intoxication.”
Was Riley Strain Overserved?
Strain’s stepfather, Chris Whiteid, previously claimed that the bartender at Luke Bryan’s bar, 32 Bridge Food + Drink, kicked him out after he was overserved, but the bar denied that he was served more than one alcoholic beverage. Later on, CCTV footage captured him staggering down the street. Now, the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission is looking into where else he was served alcohol and whether he was over-served.
Strain’s mother, Michelle Whiteid, previously told NewsNation that her son texted her the night he went missing, saying his drink tasted odd. She stated that her son ordered a rum and coke, which “didn’t taste good.” Michelle added that she asked Strain not to drink it, to which he replied that it tasted “like barbecue.”
Despite Strain’s family’s suggestion that foul play was involved in his death, the new report confirmed that it was an accident caused by drowning and intoxication.
