New Delhi: The CEO and co-founder of BookMyShow, Ashish Hemrajani, is in charge of running the well-known online ticketing company. Due to his suspected involvement in the fraudulent sale of concert tickets by British rock band Coldplay, the CEO of BookMyShow is currently making headlines.
Attorney Amit Vyas has lodged a police complaint, claiming that BookMyShow assisted in the illegal sale of tickets for Coldplay’s January 19–21, 2020, performance at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. According to Vyas, influencers and other parties are purportedly reselling Coldplay’s original Rs 2,500 tickets for their India tour for as much as Rs 3 lakh.
Who is Ashish Hemrajani?
The CEO and co-founder of the well-known online ticketing business BookMyShow is Ashish Hemrajani. Ashish received his MBA in marketing from the Sydenham Institute of Management at Mumbai University. He co-founded BookMyShow, which, as a result of the founders’ dedication, vision, and flexibility, has grown to be the most widely used ticketing app in the nation.
The founding of BookMyShow
Hemrajani began his professional career in account and client management at the American advertising agency J. Walter Thompson. Hemrajani’s destiny was altered in 1999 by a text message he sent to his boss. When Ashish texted his boss in 1999 after a night out intoxicated, he shared his idea for BookMyShow, and his boss responded, “No problem.” Take it on. Ashish felt empowered to follow his dream after receiving this response from his boss.
After an enlightening trip to South Africa, Ashish was inspired to revolutionize the Indian ticket market. Despite early difficulties, Ashish co-founded Bigtree Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the parent company of BookMyShow, with his friends Rajesh Balpande and Parikshit Dar.
The company was formerly called Go For Ticketing, then India Ticketing, and finally in 2007 it chose to partner with BookMyShow. With time, the online ticketing platform gained notoriety and became India’s top platform for purchasing tickets for live performances, theater productions, sports events, movies, and more.
