KTR slams Revanth Reddy on Constitution Day

While Rahul Gandhi talks about constitutional values, the Telangana government has continuously attempted to trample them, according to the BRS working chief, who wrote an open letter to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

On Tuesday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was attacked by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), who also charged that the state’s Congress government was “violating all the constitutional principles and values.”

“While Rahul Gandhi speaks of constitutional values, your government tramples on them,” the BRS working chief wrote in an open letter to Reddy.

In his letter, KTR also claimed that Revanth Reddy had neglected to pay respects to the statue because of his personal animosity towards Chandrashekhar Rao, calling it an insult to the man who draughted the Constitution, even though former state Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had honoured Dr. BR Ambedkar by erecting the latter’s tallest statue.

KTR also accused the Congress government in his letter of suppressing free speech and bringing fabricated charges against political rivals.

Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India guarantees the freedom of speech and expression, which is a basic right. The Congress government in Telangana is aggressively restricting this constitutional freedom, which is quite alarming. The Congress is actually implementing Arachaka Palana (Tyrannical Rule), despite its claims to be implementing Praja Palana (People’s Rule), he stated.

The former Minister said that the people of Telangana will not put up with such “tyrannical rule” for much longer and called the Congress government’s promise of “change” a delusion.

Additionally, KTR urged the Chief Minister to reinstate Telangana’s constitutional government on the grounds of equality, justice, liberty, and fraternity. He forewarned that if the unconstitutional regulation persisted, there would be a strong public backlash.

In his letter, KTR also denounced the widespread police abuses that have been documented throughout the state, accusing the police of torturing detainees and establishing a “Police Raj” (police rule).

He said that members of Revanth Reddy’s family were circumventing the constitution, interfering with state affairs, and profiting from quid pro quo agreements. Citing a Supreme Court decision opposing such actions, he also denounced HYDRAA’s illegal demolitions.

“The number of police atrocities has never been higher. Over the last 11 months of your leadership, there have been multiple allegations of marginalised people being abducted and subjected to abuse while in detention. “Under your leadership, Telangana has been transformed into a Police Raj,” KTR’s letter stated.

“HYDRAA and other state entities’ arbitrary demolitions are yet another flagrant breach of the Constitution during your administration. According to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, such demolitions are unconstitutional,” the statement continued.
