Kolkata Doctor Rape-Murder: Although the accused has no official connection to the hospital, he was a frequent visitor in the past.
After allegedly committing the crime, the man accused of raping and killing a doctor inside Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital returned home and slept for a few hours, according to police on Sunday. In order to destroy evidence, he later washed his clothes.
However, the accused—a volunteer for the community—had bloodstains on his shoe, according to the police. Although the accused has no official connection to the hospital, he was a frequent visitor in the past.
On Friday morning, the post-graduate trainee doctor’s body was discovered inside the hospital’s seminar hall. Her coworkers said that after eating, she had gone to the hallway to relax. The murder and rape happened between three and six in the morning.
For the second time in three days, city police commissioner Vineet Goyal visited the medical facility on Sunday and met with representatives of disgruntled junior physicians.
“The accused returned to his lodging after committing the crime, where he slept until late on Friday morning. He washed the clothes he was wearing during the crime to remove any evidence after waking up. During a search, his shoes with bloodstains on them were discovered,” the officer stated, as reported by The Ultimate News.
Kolkata rape-murder: What did the autopsy report say?
The victim’s body was bleeding from her mouth, eyes, and private areas, according to the first autopsy report. Her lips, hand, neck, and leg were among the other body parts that had injuries.
In the meantime, The Ultimate News revealed, citing a police officer, that there was circumstantial evidence suggesting that the doctor might have been raped after being murdered.
One of our senior officers has given the autopsy report to the deceased doctor’s parents today. We believe the students are satisfied after a productive meeting. We have removed one assistant police officer who was stationed here per their request,” the police commissioner declared.
