An 80-year-old man grandfather of Indian descent who was attacked while walking his dog in eastern England passed away from his wounds. Five minors have been arrested by police as part of a murder investigation.
While Bhim Kohli was walking his dog in Braunstone Town’s Franklin Park, he was attacked.
On September 1, the attack happened around 630 p.m. close to the park’s entrance. A day after being rushed to a hospital, Leicester native Kohli passed away.
He died from a neck injury, according to a post-mortem examination, though more tests are still being conducted.
A 14-year-old girl and boy, two 12-year-old girls, and a 12-year-old boy are among the five minors who were taken into custody.
While the other four children have been released with no further action taken, the 14-year-old boy is being held by the police.
The case is being looked into by Leicestershire Police.
Sadly, this is now being investigated as a murder after the victim passed away last night. Detective Inspector Emma Matts, the Senior Investigating Officer, stated that “as we continue to understand what has happened, officers are working quickly to establish the details of the attack and we have made a number of arrests.”
LeicestershireLive was informed by Kohli’s daughter that her father was attacked a few short moments from the security of his house.
“Many years ago, Kohli retired from his factory in Leicester, where he made cardigans and jumpers.” He has two grown boys and a girl, as well as two grandsons. What transpired is tragic,” Deep Kaila, Kohli’s neighbor, said.
The police are still pleading with anyone who saw anything between 6 and 6.45 p.m. to come forward.
