As they get ready to resume their World Test Championship (WTC) campaign with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh beginning on September 19, the India cricket team is scheduled to don the white jerseys.
In a video released by Press Trust of India, the Rohit Sharma-led team was seen arriving at the Chennai International Airport. Notable players including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah were seen boarding the team bus.
The first Test of the two-match series will be held in Chennai. In addition to being a sort of homecoming for the iconic Ravichandran Ashwin, who is scheduled to play a five-day match after his last game in 2021, the city has a rich cricketing history.
The Indian team has revealed a fairly strong roster that includes the return of a number of important players. Among the noteworthy returnees are KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Virat Kohli. After his second child was born, Kohli took a break from the game. Pant returned to the field following his horrific accident in December 2022, and KL Rahul returned following an injury spell that ruled him out of the England series.
The two-time World Test Championship finalists will be eager to win both matches in order to increase their chances of qualifying for the finals for the third time in a row. However, Bangladesh has demonstrated that they are capable of defying expectations and facing a formidable foe.
The Bangladeshi team is coming off a historic 2-0 series win over Pakistan, which included two matches played in Rawalpindi. Bangladesh accomplished this feat for the first time in its history, and the team will try to maintain that form.
