India Squad for Bangladesh Test to Be Announced Next Week

The two-match Test series against Bangladesh later this month will bring Team India’s break to an end. The first Test match takes place in Chennai on September 19, and the team that will play the series is anticipated to be announced shortly by the selectors.

The much-anticipated Team India roster for the Test series against Bangladesh is expected to be revealed the following week. September 19 is the scheduled start date for the two teams’ two-match rubber, which will be played in Chennai and Kanpur. A number of Test hopefuls have been selected for four different teams in the Duleep Trophy red-ball tournament, which kicks off India’s domestic season on September 5.

The sources claim that the selectors will be closely monitoring the Duleep Trophy performers. Players who lost their spots in the Indian team during the home England series earlier this year, such as KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, will be eager to stake their claims once more.

KL Rahul sustained an injury midway through the series that prevented him from playing, while Iyer was benched after the first two Tests. Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel, the players who took their place, performed admirably, though, and they will also be competing for the Duleep Trophy. This implies that there will be competition for several spots in the middle order.

Simultaneously, Virat Kohli, who was absent for the entire England Test series due to personal matters, is expected to return, and Rishabh Pant will most likely return as a wicketkeeper-batter for the first time since he survived the fatal accident in December 2022. As a result, the middle-order hitters Rajat Patidar, Iyer, Sarfaraz, Rahul, and Jurel will be fighting for a limited number of spots in the team.

India appears to have a well-established spin attack, but their pace bowling attack lacks experience, at least going into the Bangladesh series. With Mohammed Shami (injured) and Jasprit Bumrah (to be rested) unlikely to play in the forthcoming Test series, the selectors will be closely monitoring the fast bowlers. Meanwhile, there is no update on Mohammed Siraj who pulled out of the Duleep Trophy due to illness.
