They developed CAMDOM, an app that guards against users’ intimate moments being secretly filmed. How Camdom works
How does this “digital condom” function, then? It’s simple to use CAMDOM—it’s like putting on a standard condom for your phone! Before engaging in sexual activity, both parties hold their phones close to one another and swipe down on the app, which uses Bluetooth to lock the cameras and microphones. This easy swipe keeps everything private by turning off all recording features. And what if someone tries to turn off the lock in the middle of it? To stop any sly recordings, an alert is set off.
Why Camdom was created
The prevalence of cell phones has made it simpler than ever to take pictures or films without someone’s permission, an issue that is only becoming worse. It is almost impossible to recover private information that has been leaked online, and victims may suffer significant emotional harm. CAMDOM was created by BILLY BOY and Innocean Berlin to solve this very problem, adding a layer of digital security to safeguard private moments.
Although Billy Boy has been providing physical protection for years, this app is their first foray into online safety. “We’re known for providing real-world protection, so we thought, why not extend that to the digital realm?” says Alexander Str¼mann, brand manager for BILLY BOY. Non-consensual recordings made during intimate times are something that CAMDOM helps prevent.
BILLY BOY and Innocean Berlin are launching a social media campaign to promote CAMDOM, which includes influencers, podcasts, and advertisements in busy places like universities and nightclubs. CAMDOM is currently accessible on Android, and an iOS version will be released shortly.
