Vijay voiced his indignation in a post on the social media site X on Wednesday, implying that some people might be “allergic” to Ambedkar’s name.
Ambedkar is an “incomparable political and intellectual personality” who embodies the spirit of freedom for all Indian citizens, he praised.
Vijay underlined that Ambedkar’s legacy serves as a symbol of resistance to social injustice and a ray of hope for underprivileged populations.
He expressed his profound respect for the legendary leader by promising to scream Ambedkar’s name nonstop.
“Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar The TVK President remarked, “Let us continue to joyfully chant his name on our lips and in our hearts.”
The comments made by Amit Shah in the Rajya Sabha on December 17 have also been denounced by opposition parties nationwide.
There is currently a “fashion” to mention Ambedkar’s name often, according to Union Home Minister Shah. He also stated that the Opposition would have reached heaven if they had used God’s name as frequently.
Many people have criticised the Union Home Minister’s remarks.
At his party’s inaugural gathering in Vikravandi, northern Tamil Nadu, Vijay had named Ambedkar as one of the TVK’s ideological inspirations.
This area is regarded as a bastion of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) President Thol. Thirumavalavan and is home to a sizable Dalit population.
The Dalit Panthers of India was the previous name of Thirumavalavan’s VCK.
Vijay’s recently established party seems to be aiming for Dalit voters by capitalising on his devoted fan base among under-represented groups from his film career.
Because of his socially conscious roles in films that spoke to Dalits and other marginalised groups, Vijay has gained popularity among them.
Dalits make up about 20% of Tamil Nadu’s population, according to the 2011 Census.
Activists, however, estimate that this figure may have increased by six per cent in recent years.
