Nafe Singh Rathee Murder

New Delhi: Four shooters involved in the murder of INLD leader Nafe Singh Rathee have been identified, and efforts are underway to apprehend them, a senior Haryana Police officer said on Saturday.

Arpit Jain, Superintendent of Police in Jhajjar, said the shooters’ car had also been recovered outside Rewari Railway Station.

On February 25, Rathee, the president of the Indian National Lok Dal’s Haryana unit, was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in Jhajjar’s Bahadurgarh.

Besides Rathee, INLD worker Jai Kishan was also killed when assailants sprayed bullets into their vehicle. The attack, which occurred ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, elicited strong reactions from opposition parties in the BJP-ruled state.

Speaking to reporters in Jhajjar, SP Jain stated that the four main accused in the crime had been identified.

“Our teams were conducting raids at various places in different states to nab them,” he went on to say.

The officer stated that the car’s owner has also been identified, and those who used the car have been rounded up and asked how the vehicle got to the shooters. A forensic team has taken samples from the vehicle for examination.

According to the SP, police questioned former BJP MLA Naresh Kaushik on Friday, as well as Vijender Rathee, Sandeep Rathee, and Rajpal alias Pale Ram, who are named in the FIR.

“Today Satish Rathee and Gaurav Rathee were questioned,” he was quoted as saying.

The SP stated that police have arrested Dilip Singh, a resident of Balotra in Rajasthan, in connection with threats made to the deceased INLD leader’s two sons.

During questioning, he was not found to be associated with any gangsters or criminals.

Dilip Singh was following gangsters on social media, according to the SP, and he is still being interrogated.

Kapoor Singh Rathee, the deceased leader’s nephew, claimed on Thursday that his uncle’s elder son Bhupinder and younger son Jatinder received 18 threat calls from an unknown number.

Senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala has accused the BJP-JJP government of failing to provide security for Rathee despite a threat to his life.
