Shuchi Talati’s remarkable debut, a coming-of-age story about an unusual triangle, shone at the recent Sundance festival.
An unusual high school story from India recently took home a big prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Sundance, which concluded in Utah last week, is one of the world’s most prestigious independent film festivals. This year was a watershed moment, with the 40th edition receiving a record 17,435 entries. Only 91 feature-length and episodic works, as well as 53 short films, were selected for official release. These included Shuchi Talati’s remarkable debut, Girls Will Be Girls, as well as the first feature from Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s production house, Pushing Buttons.
